The COVID pandemic is cruel on so many levels. The necessary restrictions prevent the Lions running the activities that generate the money that enables us to support the needy. The cruel twist is that the need has increased at the same time as our income has ceased.
This Christmas we will not be able to organise parties to feed and entertain the elderly and lonely as we do normally. We do however hope to increase the number of Christmas hampers we distribute to those in need in the Looe and surrounding area.
What we need to achieve this is money and goods to fill the hampers, which is where we hope that you can help. There are two ways in which you can help:-
Firstly, you can help by donating on our LocalGiving.org page to generate funds that we can use to buy appropriate food goodies to put into the hampers. We haven’t been able to hassle you to buy Duck Race Tickets this year, so maybe what you would have spent on Duck Race Tickets could be donated to this cause. Consider the price of a bacon buttie and a cup of tea at the Car Boot Sales, donate it instead, good for the cause and good for your waistline. If you are a stall holder maybe consider the £5 pitch fee for this worthy cause.
Secondly, you can help by donating long dated food products that we can use in the hampers. We have drop-off points in various shops in the area Co-ops in East Looe, Village Gossip in West Looe and others to follow. If you are a food retailler and could make a donation we would be most grateful and can collect.
However you can help, the Lions Club of Looe, and more importantly those in need in the Looe and surrounding area, will be extremely grateful.
